“Stand Your Ground” may be tomorrow’s interpretation of free speech in America!

Craziness knows no boundaries.

First we have this big push by the gun lobbies and the big money boys in this country to make sure everybody from the cradle to the grave has guns and the right to carry them anywhere and to use them at the slightest provocation under what I consider to be some perversions of common sense called “Stand Your Ground Laws.”

The Republican-heavy Supreme Court of The United States . . . pardon me while I stop laughing for a minute . . . has now declared that gigantic really wealthy . . . super-wealthy . . . mega-rich corporations are really real people and that because of the “Citizens United” ruling the act of contributing millions of dollars to political campaigns is now really considered to be a form of “Free Speech” and this craziness leads me to ask the following question . . . a question that I think is perfectly valid given the direction in which our country seems to be headed at this point in History:

My question is:  “Will the time ever come when the act of pulling a weapon and firing it at another person and possibly even killing them in the process (Stand Your Ground) will be considered by the legal eagles as another form of “Free Speech?”

The reason I even dare to propose such an asinine-sounding question is because I see all the weapons being brandished at the standoff between the Nevada cattle rancher and the Bureau of Land management that we have all been reading about lately and I have begun to believe they represent . . . in what I consider to be a kind of perverted way . . .an act of defiance toward established authority that could . . . under the proper circumstances . . . be interpreted by some people as a symbolic act of free speech and expression.  I know it sounds totally off the wall but I think there are actually some grifter idiots out there somewhere who might interpret these events and these circumstances in such a manner as I have suggested here.

Americans once had the common sense and the dignity and moral courage to face each other down with no weapon at hand except spoken  words in politically charged confrontations such as the one that occurred at the Cliven Bundy ranch . . . and thank God even though loaded guns were a part of the scene at Bundy Ranch none of them were actually used . . . this time . . .  but maybe we have moved beyond just words as weapons . . . or maybe we have regressed back away from those more peaceful times and come to the point where the potential for violence by gun is now thought necessary to bolster those old political arguments . . . like in the days of the old Wild West or something.

If we have come to that point then let me be the first to say “I f***ing pity us and I truly fear the direction we have chosen.”
